Intolerable acts

by Emma

After the Boston Tea Party, the Parliament passed some laws to punish the colonists.
The 1st of these laws was called the Boston Port Bill. It was meant to close the Port of Boston until the colonists could pay for all the destroyed tea. The Parliament ordered the British Navy to blockade ships going in and out of the port.
Then the Parliament passed the Massachusetts Government Act. It stopped and banned town meetings unauthorized by the governor. It also stopped the Massachusetts Legislator from making laws.
Then they made the Quartering Act. It allowed the soldiers to go into homes and "protect" the colonists. The colonists were angered by these laws and yelled that they were "intolerable acts!"
